Kathmandu, June 16:
Top leaders of major political parties have started bilateral discussions to analyze the current political situation of the country.
UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ Saturday separately met Nepali Congress (NC) president Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and held talks about the current political situation.
The meeting between Prachanda and Koirala held at Maharajgunj centered on the current political crisis and discussed about its solution.
During the meeting, both leaders stressed that there was no alternative to high level political consensus for a political outlet.
After the meeting, Prachanda said that consensus should be forged to resolve the current deadlock.
He said that the Maoists were ready to discuss all issues to reach a national consensus.
He also said his party would held internal discussions and informed that today’s talks were held in cordial atmosphere.
Similarly, the NC chief said that the Maoists should implement the five-point deal to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
He said that the implementation of the five-point deal was the pre-condition for national consensus and asked the prime minister should pave the way for national consensus.
He said, "The NC has always been stressing unity, reconciliation and agreement."
Likewise, Prachanda also met UML senior leader Nepal at the latter’s residence at Koteshwor and talked about the current political situation and the need of national consensus politics.
During the meeting, the two leaderes agreed that there was no alternative to a national consensus to resolve the current poltical deadlock.
After the meeting, Prachanda said that national consensus was essentail to form the new government.
He said, "Most of the issues were agreed by the parties during the constitution drafting and remaining others should also be discussed and agreed on."
