Biratnagar, June 9

At a time when existing industries are being closed down for various reasons, new cottage industries have been registered in Morang district.

Some 488 new industries have been registered in the district, according to the Cottage and Small Industries Office Morang, Biratnagar.

The news industries are of production-oriented, agriculture, forest-based, tourism, service, development and daily food items, said the office.

It is positive that new industries have been established when there are bandas and strikes, lack of raw materials, problems in import and export and biting load shedding, as well as lack of diesel and skilled manpower, said Officer Chhabi Pandey.

According to the office, some 318 women and 1,766 men have got employment in the industries. The office has collected Rs. 1.177 million rupees as revenue from registration of the industries. (RSS)
