Marwadis demand rights

Kathmandu, May 25

Marwadi community lawmakers Thursday drew the attention of Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Subash Nembang and Constitutional Committee (CC) Chairman Nilamber Acharya demanding guarantee of the rights of the Marwadi community in the new Constitution.

They demanded representation of the Marwadi community in all the organs of the state.

The memo says that the Marwadi community, which has a population less than one per cent, should be enlisted with special rights and reservation in the constitution.

On the occasion, Nembang said that the new constitution will ensure rights of all ethnic communities and classes.

He said that he will inform concerned bodies about their demands.

In a separate memorandum given to the CC Chairman Nilambar Achariya, they demanded the equal rights for the Marwadi community.

Acharya said that rights of all communities will be guaranteed in the new constitution.

Lawmakers Bimal Kediya, Rajendra Khetan, Binod Chaudhary, Motilal Dugad, Diwakar Golchha, Siddhartha Somani, Dr. Bishwonath Agrawal, Madhusudan Agrawal, Shrawan Kumar Agrawal, Hemraj Tated and Om Prakash Sharma comprised the delegation.
