Fight against capitalism to continue

Kathmandu, Nov. 7 - Senior leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and Finance Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said Friday that his party would continue with the fight against the capitalistic imperialism and establish socialism.

"Our party will support the movement against monstrous capitalism, which is facing a severe crisis. The anti-capitalistic movement is picking up at the global level," Dr. Bhattarai said.

He added that as the system of capitalistic imperialism was in a serious crisis, it would not sustain.

He further said that his party would embrace the scientific and progressive capitalism.

He stated that the country had succeeded in abolishing monarchy and establishing bourgeois democracy.

He also said that the class struggle would continue taking place for the establishment of communism in the country. "Despite criticisms from different quarters, our party will be committed to embracing the scientific theory of Marxism," he said while addressing the inaugural session of the Seventh South Asian Human Rights & peace Studies Orientation Course in the capital.

He expressed the confidence that the people would extend their continued support to his party for the establishment socialism.

In his keynote address on "Beyond Liberal Capitalism in Crisis, the Socialist Perspective for the 21st Century", Prof. Samir Amin said that the political situation in Nepal was less difficult now as compared to other countries.

Prof. Amin, a profound thinker of the Marxist development theory, capitalism and global disaster, expressed the view that the capitalistic system had not only suffered from financial crisis but also faced problems in the system itself.

He also said that the world’s resources were under the control of only a limited number of people. "Marxism has been neglected totally by the conventional economists," he said.

He called for redistributing capital and increasing access of the underprivileged to resources.

According to him, the capitalistic imperialism has not paid any attention towards major issues such as crisis in food and agriculture, climate change and misuse of resources.

"Natural resources should be mobilised for the benefit of the entire society," he said.

The two-week orientation is being organised by South Asia Forum for Human Rights (SAFHR).

RSS adds that Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Janardan Sharma, said the remarks given by various political parties on Army integration have created confusion among people.

Minister Sharma added it was meaningless to render unnecessary comments over the issue, as the topic would be finalized by the special committee on Army integration.

While speaking to journalists in Rajha airport in Nepalgunj today, Minister Sharma accused Nepali Congress of not joining the special committee for being anti-peace party.

Minister Sharma, who is also the convener of talk team, said the dialogue would be initiated with agitating armed groups in Tarai at the earliest.

The physical infrastructure dismantled in the past would be reconstructed with the approval of budget, he said, informing that the relief package to victims in far-western region would be brought soon.
