Govt expresses objections over EU, Limbuwan meet

Kathmandu, May 25 - The government has expressed strong objections over the scheduled meetings between the European Parliamentarian Delegation and the representatives of the Limbuwan and Khumbuwan on May 28, 2010.

"The attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been seriously drawn towards the scheduled meetings between the European Parliamentarian Delegation now on a mission in Nepal and representatives of the so-called Limbuwan and Khumbuwan on 28 May 2010," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release Tuesday.

The Ministry said these groups are neither represented in the Constituent Assembly nor are political and civil organisations and are illegal groups.

The Ministry has conveyed to the European Delegation in Nepal its strong disapproval of such objectionable meetings and also the view of the Government of Nepal that these types of meetings are against the established diplomatic norms and international practices and are likely to have serious repercussions on the excellent bilateral relations between Nepal and the European Union.

The Ministry has requested that the European Parliamentary Delegation refrain from attending such meetings.
